I think Illich changed his mind about the thesis he advances in this book, but so far I don't see why. He is 100% right.

I have also decided to finally make this Albion duffle coat out of this gorgeous purple herringbone Harris tweed that I've had under my bed for about a decade. I've been too afraid to cut it, but I need a new winter coat, so time to woman up! Will be making a proper muslin first though.

Also made this incredibly awesome new kimono dressing gown for the summer months. The fabric width-wise was striped in the three colours, so I cut the front pieces to look like the print wrapped around me. Very pleased with how well it came out. The pattern is from the GBSB 'From Stitch to Style' book.

I've been sewing a lot lately and made these using the Merchant & Mill's Harlene pattern. They are a 'wearable muslin' really, as I was testing the size and also I wanted to see if the pattern worked on a lighter weight fabric. With a few adjustments, it does! I love them so much.

Sweet Liam approves of this eminently sensible book by Lucy Foulkes.

I grew a mushroom! 🥳 Good job some wildlife has been nibbling on it, since I won't be eating any mushrooms any time soon.

I am really enjoying this book. A great many quotables which may also make their way onto here as well.

This book was pitched very oddly. He says he wanted it to be a 'self-help' manual and his tone reflected that (although I often found it too simplistic and kind of patronising), but the level of detail he went into sometimes was too much, or too clinical, for that audience. In addition, it was very repetitive and despite my massive interest in health, I struggled to get through it at times. That said, his thesis is very interesting and convincing and I would recommend it for that reason.

Am I the only sicko who likes not doing certain stretches for a while, so that they can feel the delicious burn when they stretch that muscle group again? 🥴

This book is absolutely riveting, compelling, and fascinating. I’ve abandoned everything else for it.

Really appreciate Dr Hyman's comments towards the end of the podcast around helping people learn how to eat healthily by having 'community health workers' go into people's homes and showing them how to cook and eat healthily.
